Meet Margaret:

I have 25+ years in marketing management for large organizations and small businesses.  I have lived in Enumclaw for 12+ years and will now never leave.  My passion for this small community (albeit continuing to get larger) is beyond words.  In my current position with the Courier Herald, I am fortunate to connect with and support local businesses in their growth through promotional, advertising and marketing opportunities.

I began visiting from out of state for the annual American Kennel Club dog show as a competitor in 2006, which is when my love of Enumclaw began.  Prior to my current position, I handled marketing for Enumclaw St. Elizabeth Hospital and then also a year and a half  in Patient Registration in the hospital's Emergency Room.  My passion and commitment to Enumclaw's businesses and continued economic growth. My leadership style is collaborative, mixed with tapping into each individual's strengths and where and how they want to contribute.  The best outcomes are achieved when each person feels committed and accountable for their role, and that's most often accomplished when they are able to select their direction rather than have it assigned. After starting my current position in March, I regularly attend the monthly meetings, volunteered for the Chamber 5K in April, got our company to be a sponsor for the Beer Walk, and have secured agreement for our company to sponsor and be a pouring station for the November Wine Walk.  I'm ready to do more!

One is a lack of positive press about things local businesses are doing to increase Enumclaw's reputation.  At the Courier Herald, we can't report on something we don't know about.  We WANT to be spreading the news about the fantastic efforts of Enumclaw businesses to make this community better.  Second, we seem to have a "feast or famine" tourism issue.  Tie that in with our seasonal slowdown in the fall/winter, it seems a stronger effort to get more information out to potential tourists is needed so they stop on their way by (i.e. more collaboration with Crystal Mountain, info on all that's here).
